Fitting and Installation Guidelines

SWD offer complete supply and fitting on nearly all of there doors. SWD use trusted local carpenters who have worked with the company over the last 5 years to offer the best carpentry for the installation of internal and external doors. We only install products purchased from us.

The following are services that SWD DOES offer as part of their installation service:
Internally:

Door Sets:

  1. Removal of existing frame.
  2. Fitting of new door lining or timber sub-frame
  3. Fitting of all relevant door furniture set out in order confirmation
  4. Architrave and veneered skirting glued, pinned into position and pinholes waxed
  5. Fit door to the current floor finish unless advised otherwise and supplied with a sample of the proposed floor finish  (3,4,5,and 6 above are included in the fitting price for door sets)

Door Leafs:

  1. Shoot doors into existing linings
  2. Cut in locks latches and hinges
  3. Remove and re-apply existing door stops  (1,2 and 3 above are included in the fitting price for door leafs)
  4. Leave site clean and tidy

Externally:

  1. Removal of existing door and frame
  2. Recess frame 10mm back from face of brickwork or to match the existing framework.
  3. Work to a 10mm tolerance (unless aperture is not square)
  4. Position only doorbell and alarm to customer requirements (1,2,3 and 4 above are included in the fitting price for external doors)
  5. Leave site clean and tidy

Requirements:

  1. All personal belongings should be removed from the work area.
  2. A dry area should be made available in the case of inclement weather.
  3. All ironmongery should be ordered in good time and be on site on fitting start date
  4. Require power within 3 metres of the worksite.
  5. Require clear 2 metre working space around the aperture.
  6. Require no other tradesmen working within the area.
  7. Require all openings to be the correct size.
  8. Require full approval of drawings and complete payment.
  9. Where a finishing trim is available we will install to the outside only.
  10. Require access to be made available for products to be taken to the point of installation.
  11. Require suitable or relevant parking permits.
  12. Require the customer to ensure all relevant planning and building permissions are in place.

The following are services that SWD DOES NOT offer as part of their installation service:

  1. Make new openings or alter existing openings.
  2. Any building works other than those agreed in the sales confirmation.
  3. Connect/re-connect any door bell, alarm sensors or electrical wiring of any kind.
  4. Mastic or fill any gaps over 10mm externally.
  5. Mastic internally.
  6. Make good any old hinge or latch/lock cut-outs.
  7. Remove/reposition door stop, unless part of the installation package. In this instance old door stops will be used where possible, new will be fitted if necessary
  8. Take responsibility for dimensions or sizes not taken by ourselves.
  9. Take responsibility for the condition of the surrounding brickwork/masonry.
  10. Take responsibility for any structural approval that is required.
  11. Take responsibility for any injury cause to pets or children, who are not being correctly supervised.
  12. Take responsibility for bad weather conditions that stop us installing.
  13. Guarantee matching veneers for paired doors.
  14. Trim or cut doors beyond manufacturer’s recommendations.
  15. Take responsibility of the damage that may be caused when removing architraves, skirting and frames.
  16. Make good any decorating whatsoever.
  17. Accept any costs incurred due to delays of any kind.
  18. WE DO NOT TAKE RUBBISH AWAY

The quickest and most economical procedure for fitting Internal and external doors is listed below. If you request a fitter to follow a different procedure this may incur an extra charge:
Internal door fitting procedure:

Door leaves: All doors removed – door stops removed – new doors swung throughout property – locks and latches fitted – handles and escutcheons fitted – door stops fitted – planed edges sealed. Door-sets: all doors removed – door stops and architrave removed – frame removed (where applicable) – sub-frame fitted (where applicable) – door sets fitted – handles and escutcheons fitted – architraves fitted.
External fitting procedure: Once work has started on an external door it will need to be completed before starting on the next opening.
